Omori Sogen Enso Rinzai Zen International

Modern World

Ancient Path,

RINZAI ZEN INTERNATIONAL is a worldwide sangha devoted to practice of the Zen Buddhist path. RZI-affiliated meditation groups exist in N. America and Europe. New groups are constantly forming.

OUR LINEAGE

was transmitted to the West by Omori Sogen Roshi, called the greatest Rinzai master of the 20th century.

OUR PRACTICE

may be described as ZEN-KEN-SHO: the unity of classical Zen training, physical culture like martial arts, and fine arts.

OUR HEADQUARTERS

is Korinji, a Rinzai monstery in Wisconsin, USA. Meido Moore Roshi serves as the Korinji abbot, and guiding teacher of our community.

ZEN
the Buddha Way
Awakening to Your True Nature

Among the most direct of Buddhist practice paths, Rinzai Zen takes as its basis a direct, experiential enlightenment to intrinsic wisdom: the awakening called kensho, "seeing your true nature."

A Sword That Gives Life

Martial arts are used as a practice supporting the cultivation of body and breath, to bring out intense energy, to cut habitual self-absorption, and to manifest bodily fearlessness.
